Dogs 6 months and older must be licensed by the City. Licenses are good for two years and are $24. This fee is pro-rated for licenses purchased mid-year ($23 in February, $22 in March, etc.). Transit services are offered through partnerships between the cities of Shakopee and Prior Lake, as well as Scott County. There are Dial-A-Ride services to transport people throughout the city and county, circulator buses that travel the city on a regular route with scheduled stops, summer shuttles between area attractions and shopping destinations, and an express bus service (BlueXpress Bus) to downtown Minneapolis. The City offers two classes for residents interested in learning more about Public Safety. The Citizens Police Academy is held annually (usually in the spring), and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is offered twice a year.
