Utility Providers
Several entities provide utility services to Shakopee residents. Following is a list of contacts:

Driver's License/License Plates
The Customer Service Center for Scott County (200 4th Avenue W) issues driver's licenses and license plates for new residents. Call them at 952-496-8150 or visit www.co.scott.mn.us/wps/portal/Department?CSF=18&CSD=26 

Property Taxes (Homestead Filing)
You may file for homestead status at the Customer Service Center for Scott County (200 4th Avenue W). Call 952-496-8150 or visit www.co.scott.mn.us/wps/portal/Department?CSF=18&CSD=26 for more information.

Dog Licensing
Dogs 6 months and older must be licensed by the City. Licenses are good for two years and are $24. This fee is pro-rated for licenses purchased mid-year ($23 in February, $22 in March, etc.). Call 952-233-9300 for the exact prorated fee. Proof of rabies vaccination is required. Transit Options
Transit services are offered through partnerships between the cities of Shakopee and Prior Lake, as well as Scott County. There are Dial-A-Ride services to transport people throughout the city and county, circulator buses that travel the city on a regular route with scheduled stops, summer shuttles between area attractions and shopping destinations, and an express bus service (BlueXpress Bus) to downtown Minneapolis. Voter Registration
You may register to vote at the Scott County Customer Service Center (200 4th Avenue W). Voter registration forms are also available at Shakopee City Hall, 129 Holmes St. S. and the Shakopee Library, 235 Lewis Street.

Public Safety

Contacting the Police Department
In an emergency, dial 9-1-1. For a non emergency situation that still requires police assistance, please call 952-445-1411. To make an administrative request, please call 952-233-9400 during regular business hours.

Contacting the Fire Department
In an emergency or if fire fighter assistance is needed, please dial 9-1-1. For administrative issues, please call 952-233-9570 during regular business hours.

Emergency Management Resources

Public Safety Training
The City offers two classes for residents interested in learning more about Public Safety. The Citizens Police Academy is held annually (usually in the spring), and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is offered twice a year.

Hospital

Library

Shakopee Public Schools
ISD 720 offers five elementary schools, one middle school, one junior high school and one high school for area residents. Please contact them at 952-496-5000 or visit www.shakopee.k12.mn.us.
