Downtown and First Avenue Façade Improvement Program

Shakopee is proud of its historic downtown. That is why the City of Shakopee offers a Façade Improvement Loan Program to businesses located long First Avenue and in the downtown area that are interested in restoring or enhancing a historic street facing façade. Work covered under the program includes: preservation of an existing historic building design, restoration, renovation, redesign, recycling an existing building for a new use, demolition of a structurally unsound building when a new building falling under the established criteria of the program is planned, and construction of a new building fitting the historic design criteria.
